This is a series of illustrated interviews made in partnership with Brilliant Artists, a London based artist agency representing a tightly curated roster of established and up and coming illustrative talent. The concept behind is always the same: 5 inputs to which illustrators respond through sketches. Not something complex and elaborate, but just sketches on paper, as when as children we give shape to our imagination.
Brilliant Artists is “a compact illustration agency nurturing creative talent” with expertise in commercial campaigns & communications, exhibitions, traditional and digital media.
Tel Aviv based illustrator Cookie Moon (Sara Laimon) has a varied creative practice ranging from film and music videos, graphic design and branding, to co-founding electronic musical label Unterman. This polymath creative approach extends to her illustration of her; with a style that was honed in the slow unfolding nightmare of 2020, the illustrator takes cues from artist David Hockney, combined with visual references from fashion, literature and instagram, and inspired by real life experiences and her study of Jewish philosophy. This meeting of the inner world and the external physical world is a recurring subject in Sara’s illustrations by lei, working intuitively and quickly, she creates painterly images drenched in atmosphere.
