Puffs of air, ambient sounds, movements of shadows: each of the six Little Signals has its own way of communicating. We are talking about sensory signals from innovative devices that seem to come from the future to share information.
Little Signals explores new methods of interacting with technology in our daily life.
Created in collaboration with Google Seed Studio, Litttle Signals keep us updated gently with small movements sensitive to changes in the environment and needs.
Many everyday objects find subtle ways to inform us – from the moving hands of a clock to the whistle of a kettle. Little Signals continues that theme and explores how we might stay up-to-date with digital information whilst maintaining moments of calm.
The devices use various systems to attract our attention:
– Air – creates impulses to move nearby objects such as the leaves of a plant
– Movement – seven moving pegs graphically represent information
– Shadow – casts a shadow that communicates by moving
– Button – combines movements and sounds to communicate
– Rhythm – generates ambient sounds
– Touch – gradually gets louder when the news is more urgent.
