Not everyone is comfortable with words; some people can fully express themselves through music, others through images. For this reason, we have decided to start this new type of format in which we give 5 prompts to some of the illustrators we like the most and ask them to respond through sketches. Not something complex and elaborate, but just rough sketches on paper, like when as children we give shape to our imagination. This is Vittoria CMP.
“Synthesis, clarity, and impact.
These are the three key words that summarize what I seek through my creative practice. Whether it’s complex contemporary themes or simple still lifes, hand-drawn or digital, my illustrations always carry a spontaneous and essential look—sometimes playful, sometimes lyrical.
My name is Vittoria, and I’m an illustrator based in Milan. I studied at a classical high school and then at the University of the Arts London, where I earned degrees first in graphic design and then in illustration. It was here that I found my visual language through experimenting with various techniques that now feel truly mine.
In my work, aside from digital media, I communicate visual simplicity through collage, paper cutting, and paper engineering. I need only two pieces of paper and a line to tell a story.
My all-time heroes are Saul Bass, Paul Rand, Mario Sironi, Louise Bourgeois, and Nick Cave.”
